OVERVIEWThe Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act was proclaimed November 1, 2004. The Enhancement Act replaces the Child Welfare Act (1984) and provides the legislative basis for services to children and families in Alberta. The new legislation is based on research and extensive community consultation which occurred as part of the Child Welfare Act Review. REGIONAL IMPLEMENTATIONCalgary and Area Child and Family Services Authority has prepared for implementation of the Enhancement Act through a number of activities;
There are four internal working groups comprised of Calgary and Area staff. There are nine external working groups comprised of Calgary and Area staff, as well as community stakeholders. Visit the Enhancement Act Working Group page for more information and updates on their progress.
