The Legacy Fund for Youth from Care is a scholarship/bursary
program for young adults formerly in the care of Children's
Services.
It was developed as a strong expression of support by staff members of the former Calgary Rocky View
Child and Family Services Authority, now Calgary and Area
Child and Family Services Authority.
The Legacy Fund for Youth from Care provides bursaries
to young adults (18-30 years) who were the subject of a Permanent Guardianship
Order in Calgary and Area at the time that they turned 18.
Staff recognize the unique challenges faced by this group
of young men and women formerly in care. The objective of the fund is to help young people with
no caring families to support them, and to give them increased
access to the training and learning opportunities they desire.
The Friends of the Legacy Committee is responsible for
ongoing fundraising. The committee is also responsible
for reviewing student applications and recommending candidates
for awards from the fund. Donations may be made to the
The
Calgary Foundation which manages the fund. Contact
the Calgary Foundation at (403) 802-7700.
