Prevention of Family Violence & Bullying

Calgary and Area Child and Family Services' direct involvement in domestic violence cases is limited to protecting children from harm.

Calgary and Area Child and Family Services funds and works closely with a number of family shelters that provide parents and their children a safe respite from violence in the home. Shelters provide residential services to women and children fleeing family violence, crisis support through their crisis line to men and women, and are seen in the community as the best resource for assistance in making a safety plan.

Calgary and Area Child and Family Services is committed to working with its partners to strengthen the community's ability to prevent and respond to family violence. We fund a number of early intervention initiatives, including outreach and school based programs. Training staff and community service partners is an ongoing priority in the Region. Calgary and Area Child and Family Services has also developed working relationships with key service providers, including Calgary Police Services and the Emergency Women's Shelters in Calgary.
